Stephen O'Donnell is a highly experienced Maine attorney who has been serving clients in private practice since 1976. A native of Augusta, he attended local public and parochial schools before graduating from Cony High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University and later received his Juris Doctor from Northeastern University School of Law.
In 1980, Stephen co-founded Goodspeed & O'Donnell with Ernest L. Goodspeed, Jr., establishing a firm dedicated to providing trusted legal counsel throughout Maine. With decades of experience in both state and federal courts, he has built a reputation for delivering practical legal solutions and personalized client service.
Today, Stephen focuses his practice on Social Security Disability claims, estate planning, wills, trusts, probate administration, real estate matters, and business planning. In addition to creating comprehensive estate plans and trust documents, he also serves as a trustee, helping clients protect and manage their assets for future generations.
Stephen is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Maine State Bar Association, Maine Trial Lawyers Association, Kennebec Bar Association, and the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives. His dedication to public service was recognized in 2013 when he received a Certificate of Commendation through the Katahdin Counsel Recognition Program for his commitment to pro bono legal work.
Beyond his legal practice, Stephen has remained deeply involved in his community, serving on numerous municipal committees and holding leadership positions in local civic and business organizations. His longstanding commitment to both his profession and community reflects the values of service, integrity, and leadership that have guided his career for nearly five decades.
