Jeff T. Gorman's path to becoming one of the Treasure Coast's most respected trial attorneys is unlike most. Before law school, he studied engineering at Penn State — a discipline that trained him to think analytically, recognize patterns, and stress-test every argument. He graduated in 1996 with dual degrees in Economics and Political Science, then spent three years at a Washington, D.C. law firm where he handled hundreds of federal ERISA litigation cases across the country. That federal litigation experience — before he ever set foot in law school — shaped his command of evidence, procedure, and negotiation.
After earning his J.D. from Catholic University Columbus School of Law in 2001 — where he interned for a U.S. District Court judge and the U.S. Department of Justice Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Section — Jeff entered the Florida court system from both sides. He served as a public defender in Lee County, where he built a reputation for aggressive client advocacy and earned an early acquittal in a First Degree Attempted Murder with a Firearm case when the evidence appeared overwhelming. He then crossed to the prosecution side, joining the State Attorney's Office for the 19th Judicial Circuit.
As a prosecutor, Jeff handled more felony jury trials to verdict than any other attorney in the district. Murder. DUI Manslaughter. Drug trafficking. Serious violent felonies across St. Lucie, Miami-Dade, Lee, and Monroe Counties. That depth of trial experience — trying cases the state considered unwinnable — gave him an unmatched understanding of how criminal cases are constructed, where they are vulnerable, and how to dismantle them from the defense side.
In 2008, Jeff left the State Attorney's Office to run for State Legislature and simultaneously founded Jeff T. Gorman Law Offices. Since then, he has represented clients in criminal defense, personal injury, and family law — bringing the same relentless preparation to every case. He remains actively engaged in Treasure Coast political and civic organizations and is admitted to both the Florida Bar and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
