Ross grew up in Madison Maine. He attended the University of Maine where he received B.S. in Political Science. While attending University of Maine, he played football and started three consecutive years as a Middle Linebacker for the University of Maine football team from 1993-1995. He was an Academic All American and All Conference Middle Linebacker under Coach Jack Cosgrove.
