Rick Zurz co-founded Slater & Zurz with one goal in mind: to build an Ohio law firm that puts clients first. And so, for over 40 years, Rick has made it his mission to ensure every client, no matter their background or financial circumstances, has a legal team that truly fights for them. At Slater & Zurz, no client is just a case number. Here, attorneys take the time to listen, strategize, and fight as if every case were personal — because to their clients, it is. 

Today, as managing partner, Rick isn’t just a name on the letterhead — he remains actively involved in every case, ensuring that each client gets the dedicated support they deserve. His dedication to his clients and ability to secure seven-figure case resolutions have earned him a reputation as one of Ohio’s leading litigators.

Experience

Rick’s legal career was shaped by his deep-rooted commitment to justice, a value instilled in him by his father and grandfather, both of whom were judges. 

After earning his law degree and a Master’s in Taxation from the University of Akron, Rick launched his career in 1982 and has since handled thousands of cases across personal injury, wrongful death, commercial litigation, and mass torts.

Throughout his career, Rick has represented clients in state and federal courts across Ohio, including the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
