Michael J. Berger

For more than four decades, Michael Jay Berger has been a trusted advocate for individuals, businesses, creditors, and debtors navigating complex bankruptcy matters throughout California. As a State Bar of California Certified Specialist in Bankruptcy Law, Mr. Berger has built a reputation for delivering strategic, results-driven legal solutions tailored to each client’s unique financial challenges. His extensive experience in Chapters 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy cases allows him to guide clients through even the most complicated situations with confidence and clarity.

A graduate of Duke University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, Mr. Berger has dedicated his legal career exclusively to bankruptcy law since 1981. He founded his own practice in 1983 and has earned some of the profession’s highest recognitions, including Martindale-Hubbell’s AV Preeminent® Rating for legal ability and ethical standards for nearly three decades, along with a perfect 10.0 Superb AVVO rating. Known for his analytical approach and creative problem-solving skills, he helps clients find practical solutions to difficult financial and legal issues.

Beyond the courtroom, Mr. Berger has served the legal community as a Judge Pro Tem for the Beverly Hills Municipal Court, an arbitrator for the Beverly Hills Bar Association, and an editor of the Beverly Hills Bar Association Journal. Outside of his legal practice, Mr. Berger brings the same passion and dedication to his personal pursuits. An accomplished endurance athlete, he has completed dozens of marathons and ultramarathons while earning numerous national running honors. He is also the lead singer of the rock band DTF, performing at iconic Los Angeles venues.
