A graduate of New York University School of Law, Mr. Cogan began his legal career with the Legal Aid Society's Criminal Defense Division in New York, where he gained extensive felony trial experience. He later served in the Narcotics Defense Unit, refining innovative defense strategies, thorough investigative techniques, and aggressive courtroom advocacy.

Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Cogan has represented clients in a broad range of criminal matters, from DUII offenses to serious Ballot Measure 11 cases, and has argued cases at nearly every level of the judicial system—including the United States Supreme Court. His depth of experience enables him to develop strong, effective defense strategies tailored to the unique circumstances of each case.

Beyond the courtroom, Mr. Cogan has remained committed to public service and legal education. His work with the NAACP, the Lawyers' Committee on Nuclear Policy, and his role as a coach for the Grant High School Mock Trial Team reflect his dedication to justice and the legal profession.
