Paul J. Toland is the founder and managing attorney of Toland Law, LLC, a Boston-based law firm focused on immigration law and criminal defense. Practicing law in Massachusetts since 2012, he represents individuals and families navigating criminal charges and immigration challenges. Raised in a bilingual, bicultural household with a Colombian mother and an American father, Toland developed a personal understanding of the immigrant experience that continues to shape his legal practice.
Toland began his career as an Assistant District Attorney at the Worcester District Attorney’s Office, where he completed more than 100 trials over approximately three years. He later worked at two private law firms, defending clients in District and Superior Courts while developing his immigration practice. His work focuses on criminal defense, immigration proceedings, and cases where criminal convictions may threaten a client's immigration status. He has helped vacate dozens of criminal convictions for immigrant clients. Toland earned his Juris Doctor from Massachusetts School of Law in 2012 and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Rochester. He is admitted to the Massachusetts Bar and the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
