Criminal Law Attorney in Boston, Massachusetts
Joe Markey is an experienced attorney with a diverse legal background in complex criminal defense, construction accidents, workers’ compensation, and municipal government matters. After working for four years at a leading Boston litigation firm, he founded his own firm. His commitment to representing injured workers is shaped by his upbringing in a union household and his personal experience with his father’s serious workplace accident. This background gives him a personal understanding of the challenges working families face following workplace injuries.
Beyond his legal practice, Markey has a strong record of public service. In April 2024, Governor Maura Healey appointed him as a Commissioner of Civil Service, where the five-member commission hears appeals involving civil service employees, including disciplinary actions, bypass appointments, and reclassifications. He served as Lynnfield’s Town Moderator from 2016 to 2024 and as an elected Lynnfield Housing Commissioner from 2014 to 2019. Markey earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Management from Merrimack College and has also been involved in Massachusetts political campaigns. His community service includes the Boston Italian Home for Children Anniversary Board and the Chinese Golden Age Home in Boston.
