Mitchell E. Gavin is a seasoned Alabama attorney with decades of experience representing individuals, families, and businesses in a wide range of legal matters. Since joining the Alexander City law firm of Dillon and Kelley in 1976 and becoming a partner in 1979, Mr. Gavin has built a distinguished career focused on providing practical legal solutions and strong courtroom advocacy.
Mr. Gavin earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of West Alabama and later received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. His legal practice encompasses civil and criminal litigation, family and domestic relations matters, estate planning, probate administration, and real estate transactions. He has successfully represented clients in jury trials, bench trials, juvenile court proceedings, and domestic relations cases throughout Alabama.
In addition to his private practice, Mr. Gavin served for twenty-five years as an Assistant District Attorney for Alabama’s Fifth Judicial Circuit, handling a wide variety of criminal matters, including both prosecution and defense work in serious felony and capital murder cases. This extensive courtroom experience provides clients with valuable insight and skilled representation in complex legal disputes.
Mr. Gavin also proudly served in the Alabama Army National Guard as a Judge Advocate General (JAG) officer and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel after completing a distinguished military career.
