Richard A. “Rick” Coad is a criminal defense and OWI defense attorney in Madison, Wisconsin, and the founder of Coad Law Office, established in 2011. He represents clients facing difficult legal situations, focusing on ensuring their stories are heard and their rights are protected. He also assists University of Wisconsin–Madison students facing non-academic disciplinary proceedings, helping them protect their academic goals.
Before opening his practice, Rick worked at a respected medium-sized general practice firm in Madison and served as a shareholder at one of Wisconsin’s largest law firms. His professional recognition includes selection to The Best Lawyers in America in 2026 and Wisconsin Super Lawyers from 2018 through 2025. He was also named a Super Lawyers Rising Star seven times and served on the board of directors of the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers from 2013 to 2015.
