Alan is the founder of The Taggart Firm, established nearly 25 years ago to serve the community with excellence and integrity. He assists clients with family law matters, including divorce and child custody, drawing on his personal experience as a single father to prioritize children’s best interests. His practice also includes criminal defense, commercial disputes, wills and trusts, probate disputes, and firearms law. Alan has handled hundreds of bench and jury trials, mediations, and appeals, and he seeks creative, cost-effective solutions tailored to each client’s goals.
Alan began his legal career as a prosecutor at the Collin County District Attorney’s Office before moving into criminal defense. He earned a finance degree from Baylor University and his law degree from Texas Tech University, where he participated in award-winning moot court competitions. His case, Younkers v. State of Texas, addressed judicial impartiality and social media connections. Alan also served in the United States Army Reserve and was honorably discharged as a Captain in 2005. A Dallas native, he maintains a commitment to integrity, respect, and service in his legal practice.
