John T. Wilson

John T. Wilson is the Managing Partner and founder of Wilson Legal Group P.C., doing business as Wilson Whitaker Rynell. With more than 25 years of legal experience, he represents clients in intellectual property, family law, business litigation, and commercial matters throughout Texas. His technical background includes work as a computer programmer and project management consultant at Dow Chemical Company, enabling him to understand complex technologies and address intellectual property issues. Before establishing his firm in 2003, he worked in the legal department of Nortel Networks Corporation, practiced at Jenkens & Gilchrist P.C., and served as a Senior Associate in the Intellectual Property Group at Fish & Richardson P.C.

John focuses on patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and software matters, including intellectual property procurement, licensing, portfolio management, and litigation. He also handles business and commercial litigation, corporate formation, mergers and acquisitions, contract disputes, and business dissolution. Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, he represents clients in divorce, child custody, property division, and family law litigation. John holds a J.D. from the University of Houston and a B.S. in Pre-Law, summa cum laude. Licensed in Texas and New York, he is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and admitted to several federal appellate and district courts. His recognition includes repeated selection as a Thomson Reuters Super Lawyer, and he is a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas and a Texas Accredited Mediator.
