Business Law Attorney in Boston, Massachusetts
Michael Brier is the head of the Litigation Department and represents closely held businesses and individuals in high-stakes commercial, employment, shareholder, and trust disputes. Known for his problem-solving approach, he focuses on securing favorable outcomes for clients facing challenging legal situations. Brier has extensive courtroom experience and has won numerous cases for his clients. He is also an accomplished appellate advocate, having successfully persuaded an appellate court to overturn an adverse verdict based on the trial court’s misapplication of relevant law. In addition to litigation, he frequently helps clients resolve disputes through settlement and mediation, avoiding the expense and disruption of trial when possible.
Before entering private practice, Brier worked as a criminal prosecutor, trying approximately 40 cases to verdict and securing convictions for defendants accused of serious crimes. He continues to draw on that courtroom experience in his civil litigation practice. He also serves on the American Arbitration Association’s roster of commercial arbitrators. Beyond his legal practice, Brier is Co-Chair of Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education’s Business Litigation Conference and a member of the Boston Bar Association’s Business Litigation Steering Committee.
