Zachary “Zach” Shafer, a Jacksonville native, completed his undergraduate studies at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. After graduating from law school in 2009, he joined the Office of the Public Defender in Duval County, where he refined his litigation skills over several years.
During his career as a criminal defense attorney, Mr. Shafer has represented thousands of clients, unafraid to require the state to substantiate its case before a jury. He has handled trials for a wide range of felony and misdemeanor charges, including DUI, trespassing, petit theft, making threats, domestic and simple battery, drug possession, grand theft, burglary, sexual battery (including on minors), lewd and lascivious molestation, and attempted murder.
One notable success involved a DUI case where the defendant had crashed into the backyard of an off-duty Jacksonville Sheriff’s Officer.
